Principal AI Engineer II (AI)

What you will do

• Define AI engineering strategy, architecture, standards, and roadmaps aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Architect and build secure, scalable, reusable AI platforms, services, developer tools, and components.
• Lead production AI solutions through prototyping, development, testing, validation, deployment, monitoring, improvement, and retirement.
• Integrate AI platforms with AWS, enterprise data, software, security, identity, and infrastructure environments.
• Establish practices for evaluation, versioning, release management, observability, performance monitoring, incident response, and operational support.
• Advise cross-functional stakeholders, evaluate emerging technologies, mentor engineers, and guide proof-of-concept solutions into production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, Master's degree with 8 years, or PhD with 4 years in a relevant technical discipline.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating production-scale AI and machine learning systems and platforms.
• Strong experience with AWS systems and services, secure software and cloud engineering, automated testing, CI/CD, containerization, monitoring, and operational support.
• Experience in regulated environments, preferably pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, medical device, or life sciences.
• Knowledge of risk management, validation, change control, data integrity, cybersecurity, privacy, documentation, and quality requirements.
• Ability to influence complex technical and business decisions, communicate with senior stakeholders, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise AI governance, responsible AI, model validation, human oversight, and AI lifecycle management.
• MLOps and production engineering experience with model evaluation, APIs, microservices, observability, and infrastructure as code.
• Open-source contributions, publications, patents, or technical industry working-group experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional product development from feasibility through validation and production implementation.
