Director, State Government Affairs (Biotech)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States, with regular engagement in Springfield, Chicago, and communities throughout Illinois. Domestic travel: 40% required.

Salary: $160,500–$305,000 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Develop and execute lobbying, advocacy, legislative, and regulatory engagement strategies across Illinois and assigned Midwest states.
• Represent hirify.global with governors, legislators, regulators, local officials, trade associations, coalitions, and community stakeholders.
• Assess policy trends, legislation, regulations, political risks, and opportunities affecting hirify.global’s business objectives.
• Support state and local site selection, economic development, investment, and expansion initiatives.
• Partner with Government Affairs, Policy, Legal, Commercial, Market Access, Corporate Affairs, and regional business leaders.
• Manage external consultants, regional budgets, political events, coalitions, and lobbying compliance activities.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience in lobbying, public administration, political party activity, legislative staff work, or a related field.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to influence elected officials, executives, regulators, and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of state health programs, including Medicaid, state finance and appropriations, insurance, drug benefit plans, PBMs, pharmacies, employers, and consumers.
• Experience developing comprehensive Government Affairs strategies involving lobbying, associations, third-party advocacy, media, and stakeholder engagement.
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, political science, public administration, policy, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to create precise and persuasive PowerPoint presentations.

• Strong existing relationships with Illinois state and local policymakers.
