Location: Remote position requiring residence in Illinois, with preference for the Springfield area; candidates near Chicago may also be considered. Regular travel throughout Illinois and periodic regional travel are required, including 25% travel.
Salary: $168,000–$231,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do
- Lead state advocacy, legislative affairs, and government engagement across Illinois and assigned regional markets.
- Advance legislative, regulatory, and business priorities through advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
- Partner with Medicare, Medicaid, market, policy, legal, compliance, communications, and business teams.
- Build relationships with legislators, regulators, Medicaid agencies, Departments of Insurance, and industry stakeholders.
- Monitor policy and regulatory developments, identify risks, and recommend strategies to senior leadership.
- Manage lobbying firms, trade associations, consultants, coalitions, and other advocacy partners.
Requirements
- Residence in Illinois is required; regular travel between Chicago and Springfield is expected.
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, health policy, communications, business, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, lobbying, healthcare advocacy, legislative affairs, or related fields.
- Demonstrated success influencing legislative, regulatory, or public policy outcomes.
- Knowledge of state legislative and regulatory processes, Medicaid programs, and healthcare policy.
- Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and cross-functional influencing skills.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, or health insurance regulation.
- Knowledge of Illinois Medicaid and Illinois state government.
- Established relationships with Illinois policymakers, regulators, and healthcare stakeholders.
- Experience managing lobbying firms, trade associations, and other external advocacy partners.
