TL;DR
Associate Director, US Government Affairs (Biotech): Monitoring federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities and developing government affairs messages, reports, and stakeholder relationships with an accent on policy analysis, executive communications, and engagement with elected officials. Focus on identifying risks to biotech operations, building relationships with government and industry stakeholders, and coordinating responses to time-sensitive regulatory and legislative issues.

Location: Piscataway, New Jersey, United States — onsite

Salary: $150,000–$160,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

  • Monitor federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory developments affecting hirify.global and ProBio.
  • Prepare periodic reports and escalate critical, time-sensitive issues to senior leaders.
  • Develop presentations, message points, internal updates, press releases, media pitches, and executive speeches.
  • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, government staff, regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, and community leaders.
  • Organize tours, onsite and offsite meetings, and other engagement activities.
  • Advise internal leaders on business risks and support political action committee activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, international relations, political science, a scientific discipline, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of government affairs experience, or equivalent experience as a legislative assistant or in political operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including professional writing of press releases, media pitches, and executive speeches.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, influencing, cultural agility, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Piscataway, New Jersey, United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare organizations.
