Project Director, Peptide API (Hybrid)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work with frequent travel to project sites within the US and to design reviews and workshops outside the US

Salary: $182,000–$346,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead strategic peptide manufacturing projects and cross-functional professional teams across the United States.
• Manage complex capital projects from business case and capital requests through design, procurement, construction, contract negotiation, and execution.
• Drive adoption of first-time process technologies, AI, digitalization, and efficiency improvements across project development.
• Ensure delivery on schedule, within budget, to required quality standards, and in compliance with EHS requirements.
• Develop risk management strategies, KPIs, long-range plans, estimates, and financial analyses for manufacturing capacity projects.
• Partner with procurement, quality, R&D, engineering, operations, finance, contractors, consultants, and senior stakeholders to resolve technical and operational issues.

Requirements

• BS degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline; a master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA is preferred.
• 15+ years of experience as a senior engineering, projects, or operations leader across multiple technologies.
• Technical and operational expertise across manufacturing technologies including biologics, small-molecule API/OSD, medical devices, and packaging operations.
• Experience leading large, cross-functional teams and delivering results in a global matrix organization.
• Strong negotiation, communication, financial planning, budgeting, P&L, risk management, and stakeholder leadership skills.
• Ability to travel frequently to US project sites and to design reviews or workshops outside the US.
