Maintenance Technician III (HVAC/Refrigeration)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States. Rotating shift: 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, four days on/four days off.

Salary: $27–$48.80 per hour.

What you will do

• Provide senior-level technical support within the maintenance department and perform advanced maintenance tasks.
• Maintain department assets to support equipment reliability, product quality, and operational standards.
• Investigate root causes, contribute to reliability-centered maintenance analysis, and create or edit maintenance job plans.
• Train lower-level technicians on advanced tasks and support cross-functional teams.
• Support continuous improvement projects and safety initiatives while following GMP and safety regulations.
• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC/R systems, walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, and BAS-controlled equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 10+ years of experience, a relevant certificate with 5+ years of experience, an associate technical degree with 3+ years of experience, or proficiency in two or more skilled maintenance functions.
• Proficiency in multiple skilled trades and advanced machine, diagnostic, and predictive tools.
• Intermediate computer skills, including MS Windows.
• Experience with I/O and BAS-controlled systems, electrical diagrams, and 24Vac, 120Vac, and 460Vac systems.
• Working knowledge of HVAC/R validation and commissioning processes is required.
• EPA certification for refrigerant reclaiming equipment and proper refrigerant handling and disposal, plus a valid driver's license.

Nice to have

• CMRT certification or equivalent accreditation.
• Experience with Beacon 2 smart controllers and Heatcraft IntelliGen systems.
• Experience performing superheat and subcooling calculations.
