Power System Automation Engineer

Location: Boise, Idaho, United States; domestic and international travel of at least 20% required.

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Plan, design, develop, test, and commission power system automation projects.
• Configure real-time controllers as RTUs, HMI or server systems, SCADA interfaces, and custom control logic.
• Design communication networks and configure workstations for power system analytics software.
• Lead technical planning with project managers, Salesforce, customers, and project engineering teams.
• Review and certify design specifications, drawings, product configurations, factory tests, safety preparations, commissioning procedures, and service reports.
• Define project deliverables, schedules, and execution from design through commissioning.

Requirements

• Understanding of project engineering scope, budgets, schedules, and ownership of deliverables.
• Experience designing control logic schemes and network configurations.
• Ability to analyze electrical one-line drawings, AC/DC schematics, and bills of materials.
• Experience with IEC-61850, DNP, Modbus, or similar industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with server/client SCADA applications and HMI application development suites.
• Professional communication skills and willingness to travel at least 20% domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Phase I/O project management experience and SEL product configuration experience.
• IEC-61131 programming and Python programming.
• IT/OT network design and troubleshooting experience, including Wireshark.
• Substation safety training.
