IoT Engineer (Industrial IoT)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Architect end-to-end Industrial IoT solutions spanning edge devices, gateways, connectivity, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
• Design data acquisition and cloud ingestion pipelines for PLCs, SCADA systems, sensors, and industrial telemetry using OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Sparkplug B, AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Build edge computing applications, device provisioning, OTA updates, certificate rotation, and secure connectivity using mTLS and zero-trust patterns.
• Develop real-time analytics, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance models, dashboards, and alerts for industrial operators and reliability teams.
• Integrate IIoT data with MES, ERP, CMMS, and historian systems through reliable bidirectional flows.
• Collaborate with OT, process engineering, and reliability teams; maintain technical documentation, mentor engineers, evaluate emerging IIoT platforms, and ensure alignment with IEC 62443 and NIST standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least five years of IIoT or industrial software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Sparkplug B, a major cloud IoT platform, and edge runtimes such as Greengrass or IoT Edge.
• Understanding of OT/IT integration, streaming and real-time analytics, and industrial cybersecurity standards.
• U.S. work authorization is required; the role cannot sponsor new H-1B visa petitions.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital-twin platforms and predictive maintenance ML models.
• Exposure to InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Unified Namespace patterns, or industrial certifications such as ISA or IEC 62443.
