Systems Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, USA. The role requires commissioning solutions at client sites and traveling 30–50% across the USA and Canada.

What you will do

• Engineer and implement real-time automation controls and industrial information solutions.
• Conceptualize solutions during project design and develop automation systems from the plant floor to the enterprise level.
• Program, debug, test, and commission systems at client sites.
• Design and configure PLC/PAC, HMI, SCADA, networking, database, and vision system solutions.
• Create engineering notes, proposals, traceability documentation, and case studies.
• Develop methodologies, solve complex problems, learn new technologies, and mentor colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering Technology field.
• Academic or professional experience with relevant automation technologies.
• Analytical, conscientious, focused, self-starting, and quick-learning approach.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and full-time access to a personal vehicle.
• Willingness to travel 30–50% across the USA and Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience in food and beverage or life sciences.
• Experience with DeviceNet, ControlNet, DH+, Remote I/O, Modbus, Python, PI System Historian, or databases.
