Project Engineer - Protection (Power Systems)

Salary: $88,400–$132,700 annually for Project Engineer I; higher levels are listed at $96,000–$144,000 and $109,900–$164,800.

What you will do

• Lead the technical evaluation and development of customer proposals for complex power system and automation projects.
• Review RFQs and technical specifications, evaluate bid/no-bid opportunities, and develop cost-effective technical solutions.
• Prepare work statements, preliminary designs, responsibility matrices, risk assessments, cash flow forecasts, and preliminary schedules.
• Lead project teams through conceptual design, detailed design, execution, development, and customer support.
• Coordinate with Contracts and other cross-functional teams to finalize project terms and conditions.
• Mentor professional staff and ensure deliverables meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience with electric power systems or industrial automation practices.
• Knowledge of power system protection and control, integration, automation, communications, system design, studies, ICT, and protective relay applications.
• Ability to lead and supervise project teams, manage multiple solutions simultaneously, and communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and through presentations.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% as required by projects.
• Satisfactory background check and successful completion of required drug screening.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or equivalent professional certification.
• Experience with an electrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering firm, or system integrator.
• Project management experience and working knowledge of Vision or similar project tracking software.
