Section Engineer - Substation Equipment (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Onsite in Newark, Delaware, United States

Salary: $112,000–$154,000 per year, plus a 15% annual bonus for eligible positions

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for complex utility infrastructure projects involving substations and related electric or gas systems.
• Develop engineering studies, proposals, commissioning plans, scopes of work, equipment schedules, and business justifications for capital projects.
• Lead acceptance testing, technical document reviews, commissioning support, and initial energization of major utility and customer equipment.
• Support operations and maintenance personnel during emergent repairs, system emergencies, and extended storm or energy-delivery coverage.
• Direct multidisciplinary project teams and contractors while monitoring project performance, budgets, work packages, and technical specifications.
• Coach engineers, share best practices, and develop processes and procedures across hirify.global operating companies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and at least 7 years of professional engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, electrical and mechanical systems, regulations, standards, codes, and design practices.
• Advanced experience with substation design, construction, maintenance, gas-insulated substations, metal-clad switchgear, and circuit breakers.
• Engineer-in-Training certification and/or a Professional Engineer license; a license must be issued by the state where the work is performed.
• 1–3 years of professional supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to lead the work of others.
• Strong written, oral, presentation, report-generation, and technical-writing skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or graduate-level work in engineering, business administration, or project management.
• Participation in or leadership of industry committees or working groups, or publication of technical documents.
