Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)

Location: SFO / Bay Area, hybrid. The role includes periodic data center and colocation site visits, has hands-on data center responsibilities, and cannot be performed fully remotely. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 USD annually, depending on experience and qualifications, plus an annual performance-based bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, harden, and maintain RHEL/Rocky and Ubuntu systems, including the golden image pipeline.
• Develop production automation in Bash and Python for provisioning, remediation, reporting, and evidence collection.
• Own Ansible configuration management, patching, OS lifecycle planning, staged rollouts, and end-of-life upgrades.
• Manage server hardware lifecycle activities, including racking, cabling, firmware, BIOS, out-of-band management, troubleshooting, and secure decommissioning.
• Maintain enterprise storage, hypervisor clusters, VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, IPAM, topology, and asset records.
• Participate in on-call operations, escalate complex incidents, review infrastructure designs, mentor engineers, and deputize for the Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and hybrid availability in the SFO / Bay Area are required.
• 4+ years of engineering and administering Linux in production environments.
• Strong Bash and Python skills, plus fleet-scale Ansible or equivalent configuration management experience.
• Deep Linux performance troubleshooting experience across the kernel, I/O, memory, filesystems, and systemd.
• Hands-on data center experience with server lifecycle management, firmware, out-of-band management, racking, structured cabling, SAN/NAS, multipathing, and capacity management.
• Experience with cluster-scale hypervisors, data center networking, packet captures, formal incident processes, and production on-call rotations.

Nice to have

• RHCE, CCNA, virtualization, or equivalent certifications.
• Experience as a technical lead or manager deputy.
• Experience with ISO 27001 or SOC 2 Type 2 environments.
• Colocation management, data center migration, or consolidation experience.
• Cloud literacy sufficient to hand work off to a Cloud Operations team.
