TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Providing systems engineering and technical assistance for space-based missile warning, missile tracking, missile defense, and battlespace awareness capabilities with an accent on spacecraft electrical systems, avionics, RF, communications, and sensor-to-ground interfaces. Focus on requirements traceability, system integration and verification, technical risk mitigation, and supporting launch, on-orbit operations, and sustainment.

Location: Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, California; in-person/hybrid, no remote

Salary: $110,000+ annually, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Provide electrical and systems engineering support across the acquisition, development, integration, test, launch, operations, sustainment, and modernization lifecycle.
  • Analyze spacecraft, payload, ground-system, communications, sensor, power, avionics, RF, signal-processing, telemetry, and command-and-control subsystems.
  • Develop, decompose, validate, verify, and maintain system requirements and technical traceability.
  • Evaluate electrical interfaces, system architectures, technical baselines, specifications, design documentation, and integration plans.
  • Review contractor engineering products, test plans, verification reports, technical analyses, and interface-control documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, anomalies, discrepancies, dependencies, and system-level issues while coordinating with government, contractor, operational, and mission-partner organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least five years of relevant electrical, aerospace, space systems, defense, or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with electrical or electronic systems, spacecraft, payloads, ground systems, communications systems, sensors, or mission-processing systems.
  • Experience with requirements management, systems integration, verification and validation, technical reviews, risk management, configuration management, and interface control.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD clearance are required; the posting specifies active Top Secret clearance and also references active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Strong technical writing, briefing, analytical, communication, independent-work, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Space Force, Air Force, SSC/SN, missile warning, OPIR, SBIRS, missile tracking, or space-based sensor programs.
  • Experience with spacecraft electrical power systems, avionics, RF systems, communications, signal processing, telemetry, command and control, or sensor fusion.
  • Familiarity with Cameo, DOORS, Jira, Confluence, eMASS, OPIR, SBIRS, FORGE, or related mission systems.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work is performed in person or through a hybrid arrangement at Los Angeles Air Force Base; remote work is not available.
  • Occasional travel may be required, approximately 10%.
  • Work includes participation in technical reviews, engineering review boards, configuration control boards, integrated product teams, and technical interchange meetings.
