Water Utilities District Engineer

Location: Austin, Texas; hybrid work arrangement. The role includes outdoor field work, site inspections, exposure to variable weather and other job-site conditions, and occasional operation of a company vehicle.

What you will do

• Lead revisions to engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents in response to field conditions, regulations, and project objectives.
• Coordinate district capital improvement projects with local, state, and federal agencies, including permits, approvals, and regulatory clearances.
• Manage construction and project activities for municipal water infrastructure, ensuring compliance with design, contract, safety, and quality requirements.
• Review easement and right-of-way documents, technical specifications, bid packages, contracts, and procurement documentation.
• Analyze surveys, topographic data, drawings, and blueprints to identify conflicts and develop engineering solutions.
• Monitor schedules, budgets, materials, inspections, submittals, change orders, and construction progress while resolving technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of relevant water utilities experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Ability to obtain required certifications and pass applicable qualification tests within specified time frames.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record; physical ability to perform field duties and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 lbs.
