macOS Systems Engineer (Jamf)

Location: Primarily remote after onboarding or probation, but candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance of Rockville, Maryland, generally within approximately 50 miles, and be able to report onsite as required.

What you will do

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise macOS environments using Jamf Pro and Jamf Cloud.
• Develop Jamf policies, configuration profiles, Smart Groups, extension attributes, scripts, packages, Self Service workflows, and application deployment processes.
• Manage Apple Business Manager, Automated Device Enrollment, MDM, Declarative Device Management, provisioning, compliance, patching, and lifecycle operations.
• Integrate macOS environments with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, SSO, Platform SSO, Intune, Defender, Microsoft 365, certificates, and PKI.
• Build automation with Bash, Zsh, Python, PowerShell, APIs, and related technologies.
• Implement endpoint security controls, vulnerability remediation, technical documentation, and advanced escalation support.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience administering, engineering, or managing macOS systems in a managed organizational environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with Jamf Pro or another Apple-focused MDM platform, including Apple MDM, DDM, Apple Business Manager, ADE, application deployment, compliance, and macOS lifecycle management.
• Strong Bash and/or Zsh scripting skills, with experience in Python, PowerShell, APIs, or similar automation technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and/or Active Directory, enterprise SSO, Platform SSO or related macOS authentication technologies, and Microsoft 365 deployment on macOS.
• Experience with endpoint security, patch management, vulnerability remediation, compliance, system hardening, and troubleshooting across operating system, application, identity, networking, MDM, and hardware issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience and certifications; Jamf 200 certification or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice to have

• Jamf 200+ or Apple professional and technical certifications, and ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 certification.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise macOS environments, Jamf APIs, Microsoft Graph APIs, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, or enterprise automation integrations.
• Experience with certificate-based authentication, PKI, SCEP, FileVault, Secure Token, Bootstrap Token, system extensions, network extensions, and PPPC.
• Experience with NIST, CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIGs, federal government, regulated, or security-focused enterprise environments.
