Engineering Director (EdTech)

Location: Remote within the United States; employees near hirify.global offices may choose fully remote or hybrid work with Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the office. Occasional business travel is required, including 3–5 trips per year to the New York City or Reston, Virginia offices.

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 per year, adjusted based on location, experience, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead the Create Core platform team, set goals, enable execution, and remain accountable for delivery and team health.
• Partner with Product and application teams to prioritize the platform roadmap, manage scope, and make build-or-decline decisions.
• Lead the architecture of shared libraries, data models, editor foundations, metadata services, and APIs.
• Improve developer experience through documentation, reference implementations, paved paths, and local-first tooling.
• Ensure accessibility across platform components, including WCAG 2.1 AA compliance and assistive-technology testing.
• Build an engaged, high-performing team through coaching, feedback, inclusion, hiring, and professional development.

Requirements

• 7 years of experience in Agile software application development, including highly secure and data-heavy applications.
• Experience delivering web-based products or platform features in cloud-first environments using TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, and React.
• Ability to design and evaluate AWS-based architectures and guide engineering and architecture decisions.
• Experience managing 4–8 direct reports across junior and senior individual-contributor levels.
• Experience with people management, product or platform features, infrastructure, vendor management, and internal compliance.
• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer and ability to travel to New York City or Reston, Virginia 3–5 times per year.
