Engineering Manager (TypeScript)

Location: United States; remote or hybrid candidates are accepted, with an East Coast preference. Hybrid work is centered around offices in New York, NY or the Charlotte area. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

Salary: $160,000–$210,000 total cash compensation per year, plus separately offered equity.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 2–4 engineers, managing daily work, performance, development, and career growth.
• Own sprint delivery through planning, prioritization, sequencing, dependency management, and risk communication.
• Contribute hands-on to a primarily TypeScript-based codebase, focusing on ambiguous, load-bearing, or blocking work.
• Partner with Product, Design, and engineering teams to turn business goals into deliverable software.
• Own on-call, incident response, operational quality, and compliance standards for a regulated financial product.
• Promote collaborative, inclusive, continuous-learning, and AI-forward engineering practices.

Requirements

• Experience leading and managing a small engineering team, or experience as a technical lead or player-coach ready to move into people management.
• Hands-on experience with modern TypeScript codebases spanning API services and full-stack web applications.
• Strong coaching, feedback, performance management, delivery management, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Working knowledge of AWS, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD automation, observability/APM, and incident-response tooling.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, or Microsoft Copilot while maintaining review and quality standards.
• Ability to work Eastern Standard Time hours and be located in the United States.
