Senior Director of Engineering (EdTech)

Location: Remote within the United States. Hybrid work is available at offices in Tempe, Arizona; Austin, Texas; Petaluma, California; Rock Rapids, Iowa; and Bloomington, Minnesota.

Salary: $183,249–$230,000 per year, plus potential incentive, commission, or annual bonus pay.

What you will do

• Lead engineering delivery planning and execution with Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, product leaders, and stakeholders.
• Define engineering vision, strategy, capabilities, and delivery standards aligned with company goals.
• Build and grow a high-performing engineering organization of expert software engineers.
• Guide architecture and solution design for enterprise platforms, APIs, web services, and integrations.
• Ensure software quality, performance, security, scalability, reliability, redundancy, and fault tolerance.
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, multiple concurrent initiatives, and delivery expectations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 14 years of experience managing, mentoring, and building software engineering teams, including leadership of teams of at least 25 people.
• At least 20 years of experience designing, developing, and releasing software products, including enterprise-grade platforms and complex applications.
• At least 10 years of architecture and engineering experience with the Microsoft stack, object-oriented programming, and database technologies.
• Experience managing combined FTE and contractor budgets of $5 million or more.
• Strong experience with cloud application development, APIs, web services, performance engineering, security, Agile delivery, and stakeholder communication. AWS experience is preferred.

• Experience with modern architectures, open-source technologies, containerization, modern build practices, and DevOps.
• Exposure to content management systems and learning management systems.
• Experience with AWS and scalable enterprise integrations.
