Associate Director, Technical Accounting (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco or New York, United States

Salary: $140,000–$230,000 per year, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Lead the Global Technical Accounting function and provide US GAAP oversight for regional monthly reporting.
• Assess the accounting impact of new product launches, including gross versus net revenue, embedded derivatives, and cost of sales versus operating expense classification.
• Resolve technical accounting issues and judgmental estimates for complex business transactions.
• Develop and maintain the Global Accounting Policy Manual and expand the global US GAAP reporting framework.
• Design and oversee ICFR for technical accounting areas, including precise SOX-compliant reviewer controls.
• Prepare and defend technical accounting memos, improve controllership processes, automate workflows, implement AI and new accounting standards, and train regional finance teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in technical finance roles.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP and the ability to apply it to complex business transactions.
• Strong working knowledge of PCAOB Auditing Standards and SOX requirements.
• Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and operate effectively in a hyper-growth environment.

Nice to have

• Active CPA license or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience at a Big Four accounting firm.
• Experience with pre-IPO processes and preparing finance functions for public-market readiness.
• Thought leadership and a record of driving innovative solutions and organizational change.
