Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager

Location: San Francisco, in-office

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Own technical accounting positions under U.S. GAAP for complex transactions, including revenue recognition, business combinations, and stock-based compensation.
• Review non-standard customer contracts and determine revenue treatment for new products and pricing.
• Manage equity and stock-based compensation accounting, including 409A and award valuations, as well as M&A and financing activity.
• Build scalable technical accounting policies, infrastructure, controls, and audit-ready memos.
• Partner with external auditors and technical consultants while strengthening external reporting for IPO readiness.
• Track new accounting standards and explain their business impact to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, combining Big 4 or public accounting and industry experience.
• Experience in a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
• Deep hands-on expertise in ASC 606, ASC 805, and ASC 718, including drafting memos for complex, non-routine transactions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical accounting conclusions to non-finance stakeholders.
• Ability to independently own ambiguous, high-stakes problems in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with ASC 842, ASC 350-40, or ASC 480.
• Familiarity with ERP and financial reporting tools.
• Experience using AI and automation tools for accounting research, memo drafting, or audit support.
