Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; hybrid work format

Salary: $32/hour for Sophomores, $35.50/hour for Juniors, $39/hour for Seniors, $46.50/hour for Master's degree holders, and $61/hour for PhD degree holders.

What you will do

  • Develop and prototype PCBAs for robotic elements, subsystems, and testing fixtures.
  • Design, test, debug, and integrate electrical systems for surgical robotic platforms.
  • Prepare technical reviews, engineering studies, test results, and architecture documentation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, controls, software, and clinical engineering teams.
  • Present design concepts and participate in design reviews.
  • Support clinical assessments of robotic devices using inanimate anatomical models.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field, with plans to return to an academic program after the internship.
  • Basic experience with oscilloscopes, DC power supplies, and multimeters.
  • Fundamental knowledge of circuit design theory and electrical engineering principles.
  • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during hours agreed with the hiring manager.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and commitment to one of the specified 2027 internship terms.
  • Permanent US work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available. Students using CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT must not require future sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Ability to rapidly learn and use AI tools and platforms.
  • Understanding of medical device development and design controls.
  • Prior prototyping, firmware design, internship, or co-op experience.
  • Basic scripting with Python or Matlab.
  • Experience with Altium, Eagle, or KiCad.
