Principal Electrical Engineer, CRM (Medical Devices)

Location: Minimum 5 days per week onsite in Mounds View, Minnesota, in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, United States. Candidates must have U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above.

Salary: $140,800–$211,200 USD annually for U.S. locations excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for complex electrical design programs and potentially lead teams of 5–10 electrical engineers.
• Design, develop, analyze, debug, characterize, and verify analog and digital circuitry for implantable pulse generators, defibrillators, diagnostic devices, and external patient equipment.
• Integrate electronics, firmware, and mechanical designs into final products.
• Define production test requirements and support manufacturing test applications, PCB assembly, and device assembly sites.
• Develop test procedures, automated test environments, emulation, and validation methods for electrical and product designs.
• Interpret and decompose system and product requirements, verify compliance, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• For bachelor’s degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
• U.S. work authorization is required; Principal-level roles may qualify for H-1B, TN, J, or other U.S. work authorization sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Technical leadership experience and strong communication skills.
• PCB design methodology, CAD tools, and manufacturing-process experience.
• Circuit simulation with PSPICE or LTSPICE and experience evaluating and debugging electrical designs, including RF performance.
• Design, verification, and validation experience with Class III medical devices or similar regulated products.
• MATLAB modeling experience.
• C/C++, LabVIEW, and/or Python scripting experience.
• Familiarity with ISO 14708 and/or IEC60601.
