TL;DR
Electrical Engineering Intern Summer 2027 (Aerospace) (Avionics Hardware): Developing and testing avionics hardware for spacecraft programs across requirements definition, design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production with an accent on electrical hardware development and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Focus on building custom circuits, designing PCB/PCBA layouts, using electronics test equipment, and solving real engineering challenges in a fast-paced space technology environment.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

What you will do

  • Participate in the development and testing of avionics hardware for spacecraft programs.
  • Contribute to electrical hardware development from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production.
  • Work with engineers from multiple disciplines to solve practical engineering challenges.
  • Apply engineering and industry concepts in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Meet regularly with mentors and supervisors, provide progress updates, and develop technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Have at least 3 months of applied engineering experience through internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
  • Be able to work full-time on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
  • For work in U.S. offices, meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

  • GPA of 3.5 or above and at least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
  • Experience with schematic capture tools, preferably Altium, custom circuit development, or PCB/PCBA layout design.
  • Familiarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronics test equipment.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, Python, VHDL, or Verilog.
