Senior Category Manager (Chemicals)

Location: Wilmington, Delaware, United States; onsite at the headquarters

Salary: $141,120–$220,500 per year, plus a 16% annual bonus target

What you will do

• Develop and execute global category strategies for critical raw materials such as fluorspar, sulfur, and sulfuric acid.
• Lead complex sourcing initiatives, competitive bids, RFX processes, negotiations, and procurement agreement execution.
• Manage supplier performance, contracts, delivery schedules, cost savings, working capital improvements, and lower-tail spend.
• Identify supply risks and implement mitigation strategies for critical materials and services.
• Analyze spend, contracts, market trends, commodity indices, supplier landscapes, and cost models to support sourcing decisions.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, site leadership, suppliers, and senior stakeholders; mentor Associate Category Managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience procuring or managing categories in the chemical industry, including at least 7 years in direct materials.
• Strong expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, vendor management, supplier relationship management, supply risk, regulatory compliance, and segmentation.
• Strong negotiation, contract management, business analysis, market research, financial analysis, cost modeling, and supplier performance management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and business presentation skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet applications, and business reporting.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business, MBA, or supply chain certification.
• Experience procuring or managing global commodities.
• Experience with GEP, Ariba, Keelvar, or similar Source-to-Pay software.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA or another ERP system, reverse auctions, and eSourcing.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher and/or Lean certification.
