Senior Global Commodity Manager - Chemicals, Reagents, Fuel (Chemicals)

Location: USA, New Jersey; works from home. Up to 30% travel, including possible international travel, to operating facilities and supplier locations.

Salary: $121,584–$180,876 USD per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and execute enterprise-wide commodity strategies for chemicals and reagents, including lime, ammonia, urea, water-treatment chemicals, carbon products, industrial gases, lubricants, and fuels.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, including market analysis, RFI/RFP/RFQ development, supplier evaluation, negotiations, contracting, implementation, and benefit tracking.
• Build strategic supplier partnerships and manage business reviews, performance scorecards, escalations, and improvement plans.
• Partner with Operations, Logistics, Engineering, Environmental, Safety, Finance, Legal, and facility leadership to optimize delivery, inventory, freight, storage, and supply reliability.
• Lead supplier and product qualification through specification reviews, technical evaluations, plant trials, risk assessments, and stakeholder approvals.
• Deliver savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction, working-capital improvements, service improvements, and business-continuity plans for critical chemicals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, procurement, supply chain, or commercial management.
• Procurement or commodity-management experience in the chemical industry, or a technical chemistry/chemical-engineering background combined with significant procurement or strategic-sourcing experience.
• Experience developing commodity strategies, managing strategic suppliers, leading competitive sourcing events, and negotiating complex supply agreements.
• Understanding of chemical applications, specifications, cost drivers, logistics, storage, handling requirements, and supply risks.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, influencing, stakeholder-management, and independent problem-solving skills in an industrial environment.

Nice to have

• Experience sourcing water-treatment chemicals, industrial gases, carbon products, solidification materials, lubricants, fuels, or related industrial products.
• Experience in waste-to-energy, power generation, utilities, waste management, environmental services, chemical manufacturing, or chemical distribution.
• Knowledge of emissions control, water and wastewater treatment, ash treatment, combustion, or related industrial chemical applications.
• Experience managing national, regional, or global chemical supply agreements and supplier-performance programs.
• CPSM or CSCP certification.
