Assembly Lead - 1st Shift

What you will do

• Perform complex product assembly using work instructions, drawings, schematics, electronic assembly equipment, and advanced hand tools.
• Validate materials, build products within defined tolerances, complete housekeeping procedures, and follow quality and safety requirements.
• Lead team meetings, exchange job-related information, and provide training on work instructions and standard work.
• Flex across multiple assembly areas and workstations, cross-train employees, and support similar departments as needed.
• Use the ERP system to retrieve information and complete transactions.
• Identify production problems, implement countermeasures, and contribute to continuous improvement of equipment, designs, processes, safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of complex assembly or related experience.
• Experience performing highly repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret basic visual diagrams, execute advanced standard assembly procedures, use advanced hand tools, and perform basic reading, writing, and math functions.
• Intermediate computer knowledge, including electronic work instructions, plus the ability to understand basic machine operations.
• Ability to work safely, communicate effectively in a team environment, take responsibility, and perform more complex assembly skills.

Nice to have

• Manufacturing or mechanical experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system such as Oracle, JD Edwards, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Experience with root-cause problem solving methods such as 5 Why, 8D, or PDCA.
• Experience training employees on work instructions and standard work.

• Work is performed onsite in a typical manufacturing environment with seasonal temperature variations and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products.
• Regular standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, and hand manipulation are required.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance over short distances.
• Required PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, protective clothing, shields, and closed-toed or safety shoes according to facility policies.
