HVAC/MEP Technician I

Location: United States; a valid Texas driver's license is required, and employment authorization in the United States must be verified.

Salary: $30.00 per hour minimum for HVAC/MEP Technician I.

What you will do

• Respond to work orders by troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
• Inspect HVAC units, machinery, gauges, pumps, thermostats, blowers, and automated controls; test system efficiency and make adjustments.
• Maintain heating and cooling plants, including water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, hot-water boilers, water distribution pumps, compressors, and motors.
• Test refrigerant systems, repair leaks, evacuate systems with vacuum pumps, and verify operation after repairs.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document completed work on daily work orders.
• Complete minor electrical and plumbing repairs and coordinate with contractors, departments, and other facilities shops.

Requirements

• One year of advanced study or training beyond high school and three years of related experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical concepts, refrigeration theory, heating and cooling loads, and commercial HVAC equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools, testing and measuring devices, refrigerant service equipment, and multimeters.
• Valid Texas driver's license and eligibility to drive College service vehicles.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required; the position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or trade school training in HVAC.
• EPA Universal certification for refrigerant handling and disposal.
• Experience maintaining chillers, cooling towers, boilers, water circulation pumps, and electrical or plumbing systems.
