Staff Actuary (Life Insurance)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

Base salary: $107,000–$147,100 per year, with potential variable compensation.

What you will do

• Support the Corporate Actuarial valuation team by developing, improving, operating, and documenting complex actuarial models.
• Oversee major aspects of the UL/VUL GAAP reserve process, including reserve calculations and detailed analysis.
• Communicate actuarial, financial, and risk insights to leadership and stakeholders across multiple functions.
• Automate production and post-production processes for monthly reporting and explanations.
• Develop and maintain analytical tools supporting actuarial reporting.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned projects and maintain actuarial credentials through professional development.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of actuarial experience.
• All Introductory ASA exams plus three Actuarial or Advanced ASA exams or requirements.
• Completed Validation by Educational Experience coursework.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four-year education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, relationship, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Excel, Python, Power BI, SQL, and other database applications.
