Technical Accounting Business Partner (Life Insurance)

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota campus; hybrid work with three office days per week for associates within a 90-minute commute

Salary: $73,700–$136,800 base pay

What you will do

• Research proposed and emerging US GAAP, NAIC statutory, and Bermuda statutory accounting guidance, including impacts on regulatory capital.
• Analyze accounting treatment for special projects, transactions, new business initiatives, and product development.
• Prepare technical accounting documentation and maintain the technical accounting policy library.
• Collaborate with external auditors, consultants, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical accounting matters and implement new initiatives.
• Communicate recommendations and accounting conclusions to senior and executive leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience.
• Relevant experience in public accounting, accounting consulting, or other complex accounting environments.
• Strong technical accounting research, interpretation, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of accounting practices, regulations, and reporting requirements in the financial services industry.
• Self-motivated approach, independent working ability, and capacity to adapt to change.

Nice to have

• Active CPA certification or progress toward certification.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with life insurance companies and complex accounting topics such as financial instruments, derivatives, insurance contracts, business combinations, reinsurance, and revenue recognition.
