TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer (HVAC/Data Centers): Designing and coordinating HVAC and mechanical systems for mission-critical data centers and other high-performance facilities with an accent on reliability, redundancy, energy efficiency, and integrated multidisciplinary design. Focus on developing chilled-water and cooling systems, reviewing construction documentation, supporting commissioning, and applying engineering codes and standards.

Location: On-site in New York, NY, at 550 7th Avenue. Travel is less than 15%. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

What you will do

  • Develop mechanical and HVAC designs, calculations, and construction documents for mission-critical facilities.
  • Design and select equipment for chilled-water, air-handling, and cooling systems.
  • Coordinate integrated solutions with electrical, structural, and controls disciplines.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and contractor RFI responses.
  • Support field reviews and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams on scope, schedules, technical requirements, process improvement, and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of HVAC and mechanical system design experience, preferably in mission-critical, data center, or high-tech facilities.
  • Knowledge of mechanical system redundancy, energy efficiency, and load diversity principles.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and HVAC design tools such as HAP, TRACE 700, or similar.
  • Engineer in Training certification is required; Professional Engineer licensure or the ability to obtain it within 12 months is strongly preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience with CFD analysis, energy modeling, or sustainability design practices.
