Associate Director of Procurement (Biotech)

Location: Hybrid, based at the San Diego Headquarters

Salary: $156,000–$195,000 per year

What you will do

• Define and execute a company-wide procurement strategy aligned with scientific platform needs and corporate objectives.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing procurement team as the organization scales.
• Develop sourcing strategies for lab automation, scientific instrumentation, CRO/CDMO suppliers, reagents, consumables, and procurement systems.
• Manage strategic partnerships, preferred vendor programs, supplier performance KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead complex negotiations covering master service agreements, statements of work, multi-year contracts, and enterprise-level deals.
• Lead the implementation or migration of a procurement/ERP platform such as Coupa, including data migration, process redesign, and change management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Significant experience in biotech, pharma, or life sciences, ideally in a platform-based or R&D-driven organization.
• Experience building and scaling procurement functions in high-growth environments.
• Deep expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and negotiating complex service agreements.
• Experience with ERP and procurement systems such as NetSuite or Coupa, including platform implementation or migration.
