Staff Software Engineer (GenAI)

Location: US - Austin, TX; hybrid position requiring at least 3 days in the office

Salary: $131,600–$210,300 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable backend platforms, REST APIs, gRPC services, microservices, and event-driven solutions.
• Build reliable, resilient, fault-tolerant software for virtual cards, payables, acceptance, and commercial B2B payment capabilities.
• Lead architecture, design documentation, implementation quality, operational excellence, and technical trade-off discussions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and Technical Product Managers to decompose solutions into deliverable work items.
• Drive zero-defect delivery through CI/CD, automation, testing support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior developers and improve engineering standards, frameworks, and best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 2+ years with an advanced degree, 0 years with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, gRPC, J2EE, JDBC, JMS, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, WebFlux, and Vert.x.
• Experience designing backend services, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and highly available applications.
• Required GenAI/LLM-driven engineering experience and a demonstrated GenAI-first approach to design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and delivery.
• Strong CI/CD, DevOps, SQL, database design, architecture, security, monitoring, logging, and infrastructure automation skills.
• Technical leadership, design communication, stakeholder collaboration, mentoring, analytical ability, and troubleshooting skills.
