Associate Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship is required. Travel expectations are 0–5%.

Salary: $102,000–$138,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Build, test, ship, and maintain well-scoped product features, fixes, and improvements for mission-critical environments.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and end users to translate requirements into working software.
• Debug issues, improve reliability, and participate in production support, incident follow-up, and shared on-call practices.
• Contribute to implementation plans, technical discussions, code reviews, open source projects, internal tooling, and documentation.
• Help integrate software with existing defense systems while developing interoperability and security expertise.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• 1–3 years of software engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of Go or another modern programming language.
• Foundational understanding of software design, APIs, databases, and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts, software delivery tooling, and supply chain security concepts, or strong interest in learning them.
• Ability to break down problems, learn quickly, communicate clearly, and deliver pragmatic solutions with team support.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to open source projects through coursework, personal projects, internships, or professional work.
• Experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, CRDs, SBOMs, signing, or scanning.
