Senior Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, on-site in Austin, Texas; office attendance required 2–3 times per week. U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year, plus bonuses, equity grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and operate global and regional automation for the NG-SIEM event data store and search platform.
• Develop the regional control plane in Golang and extend its capabilities for increasing scale and high availability.
• Contribute to cross-team platform initiatives, feature scoping, system design, and delivery of solutions to open-ended engineering problems.
• Improve the scalability, efficiency, durability, and reliability of the LogScale engine and NG-SIEM data plane across a fleet of 400,000 CPU cores.
• Communicate technical decisions through design documents, technical talks, documentation, code reviews, pairing, and design reviews.
• Monitor production features and troubleshoot critical production issues.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
• Experience in software development and making pragmatic trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term product goals.
• Experience contributing to broad technical leadership in products or services.
• Fluency in functional and object-oriented programming, with the ability to learn new languages quickly.
• Interest in distributed systems and understanding the behavior of running systems.
• Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience programming in Golang.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale distributed system architecture, scalability, availability, and optimization.
• Experience with log management or cybersecurity products.
