Building Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Houston, TX, United States; 100% in-office during standard business hours. Remote work is not available.

What you will do

• Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related building systems.
• Respond to tenant service requests, including hot/cold calls, plumbing issues, lighting repairs, emergencies, and severe-weather or outage recovery.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions, replace fixtures and filters, and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
• Conduct property inspections, maintain accurate equipment records, and help oversee contractors.
• Follow PPE and safety procedures, participate in safety audits, and support compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA requirements.
• Work with tenants, contractors, property managers, senior engineers, and technicians while developing technical skills through training and mentorship.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of job-related experience or comparable certification or trade experience.
• Required engineering and trade licenses in accordance with applicable local, state, or national requirements.
• Developing familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, including BAS operation and troubleshooting.
• Basic ability to use Microsoft Office Outlook, laptops, phones, work-order systems, email, and training platforms.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
• Must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
