(USA) Principal Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; office-based role

Salary: $143,000–$286,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead platform engineering for scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and advanced machine learning frameworks.
• Design and implement cloud-native distributed systems with high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing.
• Oversee coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident management across the full software development lifecycle.
• Integrate AI and machine learning technologies into software products and customer experiences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while promoting engineering standards and system interoperability.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements, success metrics, and durable architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading platform engineering and delivering scalable infrastructure and reusable tooling.
• Strong expertise in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design.
• Technical experience with AI/ML integration, software architecture, and model-driven design using Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, monitoring, incident response, and full software development lifecycles.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field plus 5 years of software engineering experience, or 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong technical leadership, mentorship, collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field with 3 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and accessible digital products.
