Principal Software Engineer, Algorithmic Traffic Acquisition

Location: Flexible hybrid model; in-person interviews may be required, particularly for positions based in Boston and Dublin.

Annual base salary / OTE: $170,000–$212,000 USD, plus potential bonuses, incentives, and RSUs.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction and architecture for the recommendation platform across multiple engineering teams.
• Build scalable recommendation systems using shopper, vehicle, inventory, and behavioral signals.
• Partner with Data Science to productionize models and improve recommendation quality.
• Drive personalization, ranking, experimentation, and AI-powered recommendation experiences.
• Lead complex cross-functional initiatives from technical design through delivery and measurement.
• Improve reliability, scalability, observability, and operational excellence while mentoring engineers and contributing code.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale, customer-facing systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field.
• Deep expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and production engineering.
• Strong experience with Kotlin, Java, C#, Python, SQL, and relational databases; Kotlin is preferred.
• Experience with Data Science or ML teams, recommendation or personalization systems, machine learning platforms, feature pipelines, experimentation, and model evaluation.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, event-driven systems, streaming data, high-volume services, technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional influence.
