Engine Control Systems Engineer

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants.

Salary: $97,530–$146,290 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and validate electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices for engine performance and emissions optimization.
• Develop and verify engine control algorithms through simulation and on-engine testing.
• Define and refine engine control system requirements with process partners and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain Matlab/Simulink and GT-Power Model-in-Loop simulation frameworks.
• Analyze and present engineering data using Vector CANape, Matlab, and Python.
• Document results and provide actionable recommendations to technical and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• Professional experience applying dynamic feedback control theory to spark-ignited engine control systems.
• Knowledge of classical control theory, MIMO systems, time- and frequency-domain design, digital signal processing, and logical control.
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink, Vector CANape, GT-Power, Model-in-Loop simulation, and on-engine testing.
• Ability to analyze requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, conduct testing, and communicate complex engineering concepts.
• Experience with product development processes such as NPI, NTI, and CPI.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering with engine control systems design experience.
• Experience with gas, diesel, and dual-fuel engines, including aftertreatment systems.
• Expertise in physics-based, black-box, and system-identification modeling.
