TL;DR
Lead Engineer, Controls Systems Design & Integration (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, tuning, and testing gas turbine engine control systems, including control software, hardware, EEC/FADEC systems, and hardware/software-in-the-loop simulators with an accent on propulsion controls, system modeling, and engine testing. Focus on developing control laws, validating engine performance and operability, leading cross-functional design reviews, and achieving system response and stability targets.

Location: Centennial, Colorado, United States; onsite role

Salary: $140,000–$185,000 base salary per year

hirify.global develops jet propulsion systems for unmanned aerial defense by combining additive manufacturing with gas turbine engine technology. The company manufactures exclusively in the United States and has facilities in Colorado, Tennessee, and Ohio.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, develop, tune, and test aviation gas turbine engine control systems.
  • Define software and hardware requirements, create control software and block diagrams, and develop engine controller schematics.
  • Design and integrate actuators, pumps, sensors, fuel systems, lubrication components, and EEC/FADEC systems.
  • Lead hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulator design, commissioning, integration testing, and engine performance validation.
  • Lead engine and component test programs, including test objectives, instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning.
  • Coordinate controls work with performance, operability, transient, mechanical, aerospace, materials, additive manufacturing, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 8 years of experience with gas turbine engine control systems.
  • Strong experience with engine control software tools such as NPSS, MATLAB, Simulink, C, and C++.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, and program execution skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance are required.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with aerospace gas turbine engines.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing and design-for-additive-manufacturing principles.
  • Interest in applying additive technologies to overcome current design limitations.
