Mechatronics Product Design Engineering Supervisor II (Automotive)

Location: High Point, NC, US; onsite. The position is open to applicants who can work in or relocate to High Point, but relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $117,000–$150,000 USD per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Develop and design advanced vehicle components, wiring, power distribution, and electrical control systems for school bus products.
• Lead a functional platform team through the development and launch of new electrical and controls systems and options.
• Manage mechatronics engineering projects and staff supporting school bus production and servicing.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, internal departments, external suppliers, product compliance, and test and validation personnel.
• Research vehicle-industry developments and apply statistical, engineering, programming, modeling, and mathematical analysis techniques.
• Analyze prototype and testing issues and provide technically feasible solutions that meet regulations, restrictions, and codes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Understanding of CAN message formatting and network topology for serial control and communication networks used in heavy-duty vehicles.
• Experience with medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle electrical systems and controls.
• Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes, project management, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
• Demonstrated teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree focused on mechatronics, electrical, electronics, or automotive engineering.
• Five years of related experience.
• Experience developing and releasing commercial vehicle electrical systems and controls to production.
• Knowledge of Capital Harness System, CREO, NX, or similar electrical CAD workbench and 3D design tools.
• Knowledge of DTNA or TBB engineering documentation systems.
