What you will do

  • Provide roadway worker protection for assignments on and around live railroad tracks.
  • Coordinate job sites, communicate with train dispatchers and engineers, and manage permissions for trains and on-track equipment.
  • Conduct daily job briefings and ensure work groups follow railroad safety requirements.
  • Prepare electronic job setup forms, daily work reports, invoices, and other required documentation.
  • Place warning and stop signs, install derails and locking devices, and handle equipment weighing 15–90 pounds.
  • Coordinate assignments and schedules with RWIC supervisors and managers while completing recurring safety training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 10 years of experience as an RWIC with BNSF, or 15+ years of service with a Class I or Class II freight railroad.
  • Knowledge of on-track safety procedures, roadway worker protection, radio communication, and job briefings.
  • Ability to complete the required physical duties, warn workers of approaching trains, place signs, and install railroad derails.
  • Proficiency with email, text communication, and standard office applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays, in line with project schedules. Employment requires successful background checks, drug and alcohol testing, classroom and field training, and assessments.
