Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. Full-time onsite work requires reporting to the designated location, frequent travel, extended stays in the seniority region, and availability for on-call assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Training includes travel to Overland Park, Kansas. Relocation assistance is not available.
Salary: $250.26 per day entry rate; average annual salary of $70,000–$82,000.

What you will do
- Learn and perform freight train switching, routing, and equipment movement procedures.
- Communicate and act on oral and written operating information using various devices.
- Operate track switches and derails, check switch alignment, and interpret train movement signals.
- Inspect railcars, determine train make-up, monitor track conditions, and report equipment or operational issues.
- Climb on and off equipment, operate hand brakes, connect and disconnect air hoses, and replace railcar knuckles.
- Work in a safety-sensitive environment while following federal, state, company, and personal protective equipment requirements.
Requirements
- Must be able to report for duty in Los Angeles and work in the designated geographic area.
- Must be able to work without BNSF sponsorship or assistance for employment authorization, including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN status.
- Must be at least 18 years old by the anticipated start date.
- Must be able to work full-time schedules, including 24/7 on-call assignments, nights, weekends, holidays, and seasonal conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, hear, and understand English; lift and carry up to 80 pounds; climb ladders; work at heights and on uneven surfaces; and distinguish colors, signals, sounds, speed, and distances.
- Must follow safety policies, wear required protective equipment, and complete required background verification, medical review, and drug screening.
