Fleet Maintenance Manager (Diesel and Alternative-Fuel Fleets): Managing preventive maintenance, repairs, technicians, and operational performance for a fleet of up to 60 vehicles and related heavy equipment with an accent on safety compliance, maintenance planning, and shop efficiency. Focus on diagnosing complex engine, emissions, hydraulic, electrical, brake, transmission, and HVAC systems, controlling maintenance costs, and improving fleet reliability.

Location: Pacheco, California, United States; onsite role

Salary: $113,500–$156,100 per year; 20% annual incentive plan target

What you will do

  • Manage fleet equipment and teams of technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs across up to 60 diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles.
  • Plan and schedule repair work, monitor shop performance, manage overtime, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead technicians and maintenance supervisors through coaching, hiring, training, performance evaluation, and corrective action.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs, control personnel and repair costs, manage inventory, and coordinate outside repair facilities.
  • Conduct quality-control inspections and ensure repairs comply with company safety standards and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain maintenance records, payroll and employee documentation, budgets, departmental goals, and entries in Dossier Maintenance Software.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in the transportation industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, including OSHA HazCom, OSHA Lockout/Tagout, OSHA Fire Safety, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, emissions systems, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC, vehicle body controls, and welding tools.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certifications: T2 Diesel Engine, T Master, T3 Drive, T4 Brake, and T5 Suspension and Steering.
  • High school diploma or GED, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to manage budgets and resources.
  • Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office knowledge, professional communication, customer service, and employee collaboration skills.
