Senior HVAC Engineer (AI)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada; hybrid workplace with specific in-office days each month

Annual base salary: $66,300–$138,400 USD

What you will do

• Develop and refine HVAC sequences of operation used as the foundation for mechanical-system optimization algorithms.
• Review mechanical and controls drawings, submittals, equipment configurations, and BAS trend data to assess system readiness and performance.
• Collaborate with AI research, MLOps, algorithm, software development, and systems architecture teams to translate mechanical principles into control logic.
• Test and validate algorithms through virtual simulations, remote system reviews, and real-world field trials, measuring energy savings, comfort, and reliability.
• Support debugging, troubleshooting, functional performance testing, and root-cause analysis for control logic and optimization algorithms.
• Deliver technical training and documentation for operations teams and contribute feedback to improve platform performance and integration workflows.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant HVAC engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Deep understanding of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, refrigeration cycles, and building automation systems.
• Meaningful experience in applied HVAC system design and/or commissioning.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical system design and controls.
• Stable and successful employment history.

Nice to have

• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
