Building Operator | Critical Systems

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; onsite at Royal Bank Plaza. Rotating 42-hour continental shifts include daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts.

Salary: CAD 64,317–75,000 per year.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain critical systems supporting the TRDC data centre, including the control centre, UPS, BAS, mechanical plant, water treatment, fire alarm, electrical, and EPGS systems.
• Monitor systems, conduct inspections and daily rounds, record operating data, and maintain uptime.
• Follow SOPs and EOPs during normal operations, emergencies, and disaster recovery situations.
• Troubleshoot anomalies, adjust temperatures and setpoints, switch cooling modes, and perform monthly EPGS testing.
• Use the building automation system to maintain operating parameters and energy efficiency.
• Provide customer service to Capital Markets Trading Floor staff and coordinate with colleagues, contractors, and Royal Bank Plaza personnel.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience as an electrician or HVAC technician.
• 2–5 years of experience in a data centre environment; equivalent AAA office experience may be considered.
• BES 1&2 or 4th Class Power Engineer certificate.
• Ability to troubleshoot, identify opportunities, and implement action plans under time-sensitive conditions.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand single-line diagrams, perform electrical breaker switching with proper PPE, and use Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship is not available.
