TL;DR
Energy Engineer - III (Energy Efficiency): Conducting energy audits, engineering studies, and measurement and verification activities for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities with an accent on energy conservation analysis, savings calculations, and technical reporting. Location: Remote in British Columbia, Canada, with a preference for presence in the Lower Mainland; approximately 20% annual travel, primarily local with occasional Canada-wide travel.

Salary: CAD 104,000–110,000 annually. The broader compensation range is CAD 94,300–163,400.

What you will do

  • Conduct energy audits, assessments, and engineering studies for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities, with an emphasis on industrial environments.
  • Identify energy conservation measures and calculate expected savings using thermodynamics, mechanics, fan laws, and energy-use analysis.
  • Support Measurement and Verification activities through energy data collection, consumption analysis, and savings reporting.
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations explaining energy-saving opportunities and their expected impact.
  • Support site visits, audits, coaching, and data logger installation or removal alongside qualified trades when required.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables and contribute to utility-driven energy conservation programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Process Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • At least 5 years of experience in energy management, energy engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with energy audits, engineering studies, energy conservation projects, and different facility types, ideally including industrial sites.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and travel nationwide approximately 20% of the time.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship or immigration support. Successful hires must pass pre-employment checks.

Nice to have

  • Measurement and Verification certification such as CMVP or equivalent.
  • Experience with energy data logging, sub-metering, interval data, or metering equipment.
  • Experience with utility-driven demand-side management or energy conservation programs.
  • Experience in consulting, energy services, utility, or similar energy conservation environments.
  • Valid driver’s license.
