TL;DR
Climate Change Engineering Trainee (Climate Technologies): Supporting climate change and decarbonization projects involving process electrification, green hydrogen, carbon capture, direct air capture, biomass, biochar, and biofuels with an accent on mechanical equipment design, GHG modeling, and low-emission process evaluation. Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; office and project-site work, including remote sites when applicable

Salary: CAD 81,000–84,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

  • Support climate change, decarbonization, and climate technology studies involving process electrification, green hydrogen, carbon capture, direct air capture, biomass, biochar, and biofuels.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment calculations, sizing, data sheets, technical specifications, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Evaluate low-emission process alternatives, equipment and technology selections, materials of construction, and techno-economic trade-offs.
  • Contribute to GHG profiles, energy and emissions modeling, decarbonization assessments, process flow diagrams, and mass and energy balances.
  • Participate in equipment design reviews, plant layout development, climate and process risk assessments, and HAZID/HAZOP studies.
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers, contractors, and project teams on cost estimates, proposals, and project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Working toward graduation in 2027 or recently graduated with a Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Academic or work experience with mechanical equipment design for complex industrial processes.
  • Strong engineering and business fundamentals, analytical problem-solving, organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, ability to learn quickly, adaptability, and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites, including remote sites.
  • Applicants must submit an official or unofficial academic transcript.

Nice to have

  • Previous co-op or summer work experience within a process or mechanical engineering team.
  • Active involvement in extracurricular or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
