Engineering Manager (Cloud)

What you will do

• Establish team structure, ownership, and operating practices that support independent decision-making.
• Build planning and coordination practices that enable delivery without unnecessary process.
• Lead engineers through expectations, feedback, one-to-ones, career development, hiring, and onboarding.
• Coordinate delivery, dependencies, commitments, and risks across the engineering team.
• Agree priorities with Product and the Tech Lead based on product goals, technical constraints, and team capacity.
• Improve recurring delivery and coordination problems at the system level.

Requirements

• Experience managing engineers through clear expectations, regular feedback, development, and fair performance management.
• Experience building or improving a team’s operating system and delivery practices.
• Strong delivery judgment, including prioritization, trade-offs, dependency management, and early risk action.
• Technical background sufficient to understand the team’s work, challenge assumptions, and coach judgment without taking technical ownership.
• Experience hiring and onboarding engineers while balancing immediate delivery with long-term capability.
• Ability to collaborate with Product and technical leadership in a fast-growing, ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Experience managing cloud platforms, distributed systems, developer products, or production infrastructure.
• Experience working in an Engineering Manager and Tech Lead partnership.
• Experience scaling teams or reshaping responsibilities as an organization grows.
• Earlier hands-on engineering experience.
