Staff Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote from anywhere in the United States, with required travel to the Minneapolis, Minnesota headquarters at least 10% of the time.

Salary: At least $156,000/year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and support cloud-native applications across AWS and other enterprise platforms.
• Lead architecture and technical analysis for current and future business solutions in wealth management, annuities, insurance, and financial services.
• Build and maintain data platforms, integrations, event-driven applications, and back-end system interfaces.
• Measure data quality and user journeys using front-end instrumentation, AWS Logs, and analytical data.
• Coordinate security, authentication, change management, disaster recovery, configurations, reporting, and system upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership, contribute to standards and proof-of-concept work, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• At least 7 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in digital engineering for financial services, including at least 7 years building modern web applications and 4 years in a lead role.
• At least 2 years designing and implementing NoSQL data storage such as DynamoDB, plus at least 1 year creating event-driven applications with technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, React Hooks, component-driven architecture, Next.js SSR/SSG, Node.js, GraphQL, Vite/Webpack, Storybook, REST, SOAP, and performance profiling.
• Experience deploying and operating AWS workloads, applying CI/CD and DevOps practices, and using observability tools such as DataDog, ELK, and CloudWatch.
• AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification, or an equivalent certification from Azure or GCP, is required.
