Technical Lead Manager, Content Management Systems

Location: Remote - United States. Candidates residing in Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not being considered.

Salary: $169,150–$233,000 annually, depending on US region, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal equity, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Lead a new engineering team building content management capabilities for multiple business teams.
• Define the technical direction for a CMS platform supporting publication across multiple websites and digital channels.
• Partner with engineering, product, design, marketing, and other stakeholders on content workflows, governance, and platform opportunities.
• Drive front-end and back-end architecture and implementation decisions focused on scalability, maintainability, reliability, and usability.
• Establish engineering practices for system design, delivery, observability, quality, and operational excellence.
• Coach engineers, contribute to technical problem-solving and design reviews, and balance immediate delivery with long-term platform investment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience and experience leading engineering teams through technical direction, delivery planning, and people management.
• Experience selecting, implementing, integrating, customizing, or evolving content management systems in multi-team environments.
• Strong technical proficiency across front-end and back-end codebases.
• Experience designing and operating systems on AWS, Azure, GCP, or another modern cloud platform.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, APIs, integrations, data flows, security, and operational reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder alignment, and the ability to work in an ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-site, multi-channel, or headless CMS architectures.
• Experience supporting marketing, content, digital, or web publishing workflows.
• Experience in e-commerce, growth, or customer-facing web platforms.
• Familiarity with modern web architecture, experimentation, personalization, SEO, and content performance.
